Patterns and styling tips

The plain pattern

For our plain ties, we obviously only select models with particularities either in terms of material (and in particular texture), or in terms of construction (5 or 7 pleats, unlined etc.).

Here, we have a light-colored, highly textured tie: it’s important to play on contrast with subtlety, hence the medium-blue shirt with white stripes, paired here with a forest-green suit.

About the brand

Céline

Céline is a French luxury ready-to-wear brand founded in 1945 by Céline Vipiana. In its early days, the brand specialized in children’s shoes, but soon expanded to include women’s clothing.

In the 70s, Céline launched its first collection of men’s accessories, including belts, ties and scarves. These accessories were a great success thanks to their sleek, elegant design, which reflected the brand’s sophistication and modernity.

In the 1980s, the brand enjoyed a period of rapid growth under the artistic direction of Michael Kors, who created bold, innovative collections for the brand. It was also at this time that Céline began producing its accessories in Spain, working with local artisans renowned for their exceptional craftsmanship.

Most of Céline’s vintage ties were made in Spain in the 1980s and 1990s. This decision was taken by the brand for several reasons. First of all, Spain had a long tradition of manufacturing high-quality ties, and Céline wanted to benefit from this know-how. Secondly, labor costs were lower in Spain than in France or Italy, enabling Céline to offer quality ties at a more affordable price.
